Dr Sally Ng MBBS (Hons) DIPSURGANAT FRACS is a fully qualified, Melbourne trained specialist plastic and reconstructive surgeon.

Dr Sally Ng is a Melbourne-trained specialist plastic and reconstructive surgeon recognised for her commitment to surgical innovation and advancement of patient outcome. She is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, member of the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons, as well as an international member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. She is a board director of the Australia and New Zealand Head and Neck Cancer Society (ANZHNCS) and is a co-chair of the International Confederation of Plastic Surgery Societies (ICOPLAST) publication committee.
Sally was awarded the prestigious Sir John Monash Award for Excellence Scholarship to study medicine at Monash University, where she completed her MBBS with Honours in 2005. She completed her specialist training in Plastic and Reconstructive surgery in 2016 followed by advanced subspecialty training at leading plastic surgery centers in Shanghai, Seoul, Tokyo, Barcelona and the United States. She further strengthened her academic and leadership expertise through a clinical Diploma in Surgical Leadership (2021) and a Masters Degree in Surgical Lymphology (2025).
Her clinical and academic work is focused on advancing oncological reconstructive microsurgery. She leads a plastic surgery research unit within the Department of Surgery at Austin Health and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications focused on improving surgical outcomes and advancing standards of care in plastic surgery. As Clinical Lead of Lymphatic Service at Austin Health, She introduced novel techniques to improve prevention and early detection of lymphoedema following cancer treatment. She also established the scar and laser service at the Victorian Adult Burns Services, contributing to improved long term outcomes for patients with burns injuries.
Sally plays a pivotal role in the training of future plastic surgeons. She is a Senior Clinical Lecturer at the Department of Surgery at the University of Melbourne. She is actively involved in the examination and training programs and is a certified instructor in surgical skills and trauma management at the Royal Australian College of Surgeons.
Beyond her clinical and academic work, Sally is a respected leader and mentor in the broader community. She serves on multiple community boards with a strong commitment to education, professional development, and empowering the next generation. She values travel and the exploration of remote regions to draw inspiration from diverse cultures.
Prestigious Awards
Sally received the prestigious Sir John Monash Award for Excellence Scholarship to undertake her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree at Monash University. She completed her MBBS with Honours in 2005 and underwent training with all of Melbourne’s leading plastic surgery units.
Sally was awarded her Fellowship in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery in 2016. Since then, she has pursued additional world-class international knowledge and experience. She has completed subspecialty reconstructive microsurgery training at the Ninth People’s Hospital in Shanghai and completed a Masters of Microsurgery at the Reconstructive Microsurgery European School (RMES).
Sally holds an impressive portfolio of specialist plastic surgeon positions at multiple major Melbourne public hospital networks, with a subspecialty interest in oncological reconstructive microsurgery. She is an active member of the breast, head and neck, complex skin malignancy and melanoma services at her hospital networks. She is also a burns specialist at the Victorian Adult Burns Service (The Alfred Hospital) where she pursues her particular interest in complex scar reconstruction.

Dr Sally also strongly believes in nurturing the future of plastic surgery in Melbourne and is actively involved in the support and training of upcoming surgical trainees. She is the Plastic Surgery Training Program Supervisor for a major Melbourne public hospital network and a qualified instructor of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons.
She is a prolific contributor to the advancement of plastic surgery through research and has published numerous articles in international medical journals. She also contributes her leadership and professional skills to various professional and community-based organisations.
