Dr Alister Ooi
Dr Alister Ooi completed his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Biomedical Science at the University of Melbourne and via the Austin Hospital Clinical School, graduating with Honours in 2006. Dr Ooi then undertook specialist training in Anaesthesia through the Royal Melbourne Hospital and associated hospitals, receiving his Fellowship in Anaesthesia from the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists in 2015. He completed his final year of anaesthesia training in Canada, completing a Fellowship in Perioperative Anaesthesia at Toronto Western Hospital. In addition to working for Northern Anaesthetics, Dr Ooi has a public appointment as a visiting specialist anaesthetist at Eastern Health, particularly Box Hill and associated Eastern Health hospitals where he is a regular part of the after hours emergency anaesthesia roster. He is heavily involved in the education of junior medical and nursing staff, and oversees anaesthesia services for the Endoscopy Units for Eastern Health. He provides anaesthesia for a wide range of surgical subspecialties, including plastic and reconstructive surgery, orthopaedics, bariatric and maxillofacial surgery. Dr Ooi takes pride in ensuring the anaesthesia for your procedure is as smooth and pleasant an experience as possible.
Dr Daniel Liu
Dr Daniel Liu is a specialist anaesthetist trained at Royal Melbourne Hospital with fellowship completed at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and Austin Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Australia and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (FANZCA) and Australian Society of Anaesthetists (ASA). Dr Liu currently holds public appointments at Austin Health, Eastern Health and Monash Health where he is passionately involved with training and mentoring specialist trainees. Dr Liu has special interest in providing anaesthesia in neurosurgery, complex plastics surgery, pain procedures, paediatric ear nose and throat surgery and regional anaesthesia. His philosophy is to provide safe anaesthesia that is tailored to the individual patients to ensure optimal comfort and high quality care throughout the perioperative journey.
Dr Phil Johnson
Dr Phil Johnson has been a consultant anaesthetist since 2017. He is a Staff Specialist Anaesthetist at Western Health and a VMO at the Eye and Ear, with private work in Plastic Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics and ENT.
Dr Simon Astegno
Dr Simon Astegno graduated from the University of Melbourne with a Bachelor degree in Medicine and Surgery in 2001. He completed his specialist training in anaesthesia through the Royal Melbourne Hospital in 2011. He now divides his time equally between public practice at Western Health and private practice where he has an interest in anaesthesia for plastic and reconstructive surgery, complex urology and neurosurgery.
Dr Khai-Ching Lim
KC graduated from Monash University in Melbourne, Australia in 1998. She obtained Fellowship in Australia & New Zealeand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA) in 2007. In 2014-2016 she was a Chronic Pain Fellow at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and at the Melbourne Pain Group. In 2018, she was endorsed for Medical Acupuncture via the Australian Medical Acupuncture College (AMAC). She is currently completing a Fellowship in the Australasian College of Nutritional and Environmental Medicine (ACNEM). Her special interests are in alternative medicines, laser medical acupuncture and mind body medicine. She is a regular practitioner of yoga, meditation and qi gong.
